In Hartford County, police responded to a “vicious dog complaint” in Bristol on Friday, May 27, on French Street.

According to Bristol Police Lt. Robert Osborne, upon arrival, officers found a pit bull actively attacking its victim, and it had to be shot at the scene to halt the attack.

Osborne said that after being struck, the medium-sized brown pit bull took off in an unknown direction and its injuries were initially unclear.

Officers are still searching the area for the dog. No update has been provided regarding the victim's injuries.

If it is located by area residents, Osborne said that one should not approach, but should instead immediately call the Bristol Police Department by calling (860) 584-3011 “as the dog is vicious.”

This is a developing story. More information is expected to be released as the investigation continues.
